Again, another great video that leaves me smiling. Like I've said before I really like watching you and Grant working together on another corn and soybean operation like I and my wife had. While my city girl wife eventually learned to operate our farm equipment and trucks, she definitely had no mechanical skills. Actually, running machinery for her wasn't too big of a stretch because we both had an US Army Petroleum Supply MOS; and we both went to the POL (petroleum oil lubricants) school in Fort Lee, Virginia as US Army Reservists. While there we were taught to drive semi-tanker trucks, which at the time and before the Army went to automatic transmissions like the 900-series truck your dad has, were the 800 series like Grant had and those trucks, like you and Grant know, had clutches. However, my wife was no good with wrenches; and I keep thinking Grant was sure lucky to marry a farm girl that can, both, run farm machinery and work on it.

Pivot question: are the individual sprinklers on each tower calibrated for water flow or are there certain orifices on each tower that control the flow for that section? At the well head there is a lot less water being delivered than out at the last tower which I know is moving much faster and needs more flow, would love to know the answer!

OK OK OK, have you guys never heard of Anti-Seize compound. The silver stuff comes in a small container. I worked heavy equipt. for 25 years. Never put a bolt on without it. Never stuck a bolt that had it on. You guys are in this for the lifetime haul. You will be the ones taking those bolts off in the future................or maybe the grandkids.

Hey guys, just think about maybe using never seize on your bolts it would help when you have to take them off the next time. And maybe weld on jacking plates on the next gear box removal for a safer working lifting point.

Just a tip for installing that gear box. Grab a couple bolts of same diameter as ones used to mount the drive but 2 or 3 inches longer. Cut the heads off the bolts, use a zip disc and make a slot across diameter of the end you just cut that will fit a flat screwdriver. You just made pilot studs. When installing a new drive, thread the studs into it and they will help guide and support the drive as you get it mounted. Once a few other bolts are in you just remove the studs. That’s why I slot the end of stud, just in case it’s a bit stubborn coming out and can’t do by hand. A trick I’ve used a thousand times in my 35 yrs as a heavy equipment mechanic.

Need to apply never seize to all the threads. Things will come apart much easier with less effort.

Put copper grease on the motor bolts l, you will find it doesnt rust solid and easier to get off.

Hi Laura & Grant! Your next shop job is to make a metal sawhorse that will support the weight of the pivot while you change a tire &/or gearbox. Those jack-alls are great but NOT a stable support for working around! Safety 1st!

Laura, you are a hardworking lady, a real example for the young ladies of this next generation.

Ok Laura--got a question. How does the pivot know when one of the towers stops moving, like in this case ? The whole thing must stop or else the other towers would keep going, and bend and break the main water pipe. I know they must go at different speeds anyway due to the fact they travel in a circle. Closer to the middle travel less than the ones farther away from the middle. Just curious as to how that's done. Gear ratios in the boxes different maybe ?

Are the gear ratios different from outside to inside gear boxes?

Some1 should of been pushing on that wheel to help it out of the hole, with tht weak driveline system.........
